During this period, we conducted searches for outside sales representatives.  We hired five sales persons throughout the course of the reporting year; one stayed with us.

The sources utilized were:  On-air announcements, newspaper ads, word of mouth, contact through Penn State Intern program.  (Kira Altmann and Laura Williams,  part-time paid interns, from PSU), plus variable number of different unpaid interns per semester, for college credit.  This most recent semester, there have been six interns.  They all pass the word about fulltime positions being open.

APPENDIX 3

 

The initiatives we undertook pursuant to 73.2080(c)(2):

 

      1- We conducted an EEO orientation with Upper Level Personnel,

 

2- We conducted Internships with Kira Altmann and Laura Williams.  These were paid internships, basically part-time, plus unpaid internships in cooperation with Pennsylvania State University, with as many as six interns per semester..

 

3- We prepared a brochure titled “Careers in Radio” to be made available to Communications Majors at Penn State, as well as Centre County Career Link and Blair County Career Link. This brochure emphasizes career possibilities, either as the first step toward a major market, or as a worthwhile lifelong occupation here at home.

 

4- We conducted a mentoring program with A. J. Meyer, Operations Manager and A. Theodore Swanson, Sales Manager, on the Equal Employment  Opportunity program, including hiring practices, as well as the necessity to keep accurate records.

 

5-  We continued to broadcast the Invitation Ad, extending to all groups and agencies the invitation to contact us and ask to be notified in the event of a vacancy on the staff.  These announcements are now broadcast each week, rather than twice monthly before.

Appendix 1.

During this period, we began a formal search for a fulltime outside salesperson.  We took the following steps:

 

1-   We prepared the requisite forms to be used in this and future Job Opening searches.  These forms include a summary sheet to be used for each Job Opening, an Application Form, an Invitation Ad, A list of organizations to be notified.

2-   We prepared a one page Job Description Sheet for the opening.

3-   We prepared an advertisement, and placed it as a Classified Ad in the Centre Daily Times daily newspaper for the territory we desire to place this salesperson. This ad for 7 consecutive issues.

4-   We scheduled radio ads on WGMR(FM) for seven days in Morning Drive (6-10 a. m.) and Afternoon Drive (3-7 p.m.)

5-   We placed a copy of this ad on our website, www.revolution101.com, 

6-   We ran the “Invitation Ad” asking interested groups to write us if they wished to be noti
